They came a thousand years ago
To help us find our star
But we couldn't understand
So we didn't get very far
And it made them sad to leave
But they said we had to find our own way
They said they'd come again
A different time, a different day

They said they'd still be with us
As we lived from day to day
And if we needed help
We only had to say
But we didn't seem to listen
No we didn't seem to care
And now they're sadly watching us
Create a world of despair

When will we meet again
When will we go home
Are you really out there
Or are you here alone
I wish you'd come to see us
And tell us what it's like
And our hand our hand towards the end
And help us through the night

Sometimes I look up to the stars
And I wonder if you're near
And if you're watching over us
From a different atmosphere
I wonder if you miss us
Do you laugh at our silly games
I only wish you'd come again
So we can go and play
